Instructions
Prospect lines up with a soccer ball placed on the penalty spot (12 yards from goal)
Prospect will shoot on goal using maximum effort
Prospect will attempt to shoot as fast as possible down the middle of the goal
Prospect gets 3 attempts with each foot (Strong and Weak foot)
Only the fastest shot for each foot will be recorded and used
Measures: Power, Finishing, Technique, Weak Foot

Why it’s important: Fast shots lead to more goals. Faster shots give goalkeepers less time to react. The Shot Speed drill measures a prospect’s ability to generate speed on an attempt at goal. The speed and force behind a shot make it more difficult for goalkeepers to react and make a save, increasing the likelihood of the ball finding the back of the net. Prospects with strong shot power can take shots from outside the penalty area with confidence, creating additional goal-scoring opportunities.
