Why it’s important: Touch is the ability to control the ball upon receiving it. It is considered one of the most crucial skills in the sport. The Quick Touch drill measures a prospect’s ability to gather control and play the ball. A good first touch allows a prospect to bring the ball under control quickly and effectively. This skill is fundamental for maintaining possession and avoiding turnovers, especially when receiving passes from teammates or controlling long balls.
