Why it’s important: The Slalom Drill is perhaps the oldest and most recognized soccer drill. Used by youth clubs all over the world to teach the fundamentals of ball control and dribbling, this drill measures a prospect’s ability to move in a quick and controlled manner with the ball. It involves using various parts of the foot to maneuver the ball skillfully, showing a prospects ability to keep possession and navigate through tight spaces. A prospect with strong dribbling skills has the ability to take on defenders, beat them with quick changes of direction, and create goal-scoring chances.
