Why it’s important: Speed is a valuable asset in soccer because it can lead to more goals, better defensive plays, and increased overall effectiveness on the field. The 30 yard dash drill measures a prospects top speed. Speed can change the dynamics of a game, impact strategy, and make a significant difference in a team's performance. Having even a small advantage in speed can make a significant difference in competition. Speed is a key factor in the recruitment process. Scouts and talent evaluators often use speed as an initial screening tool to spot potential athletes who may excel at the college or professional level.
