Why it’s important: Passing curve, or the ability to apply spin to a ball during a pass, is an important skill in soccer development. The Olimpico drill measures a prospect’s ability to curve passes at extreme angles. When taking corner kicks, prospects often use curve to ensure the ball reaches specific areas in the penalty box. Prospects who can control the flight path are able to deliver passes with precision in the air. This is particularly valuable in situations where the ball needs to avoid defenders, reach a specific target, or find a teammate making a run.
