Shot VELOCITY
Test #3
Measures: Power, Finishing, Technique, Weak Foot
Measurement Units: Miles per hour (mph). Displayed to the nearest tenth of a mile. 0.0
Measured by: Radar Gun
Why it’s important: Fast shots lead to more goals. Faster shots give goalkeepers less time to react. The Shot Speed drill measures a prospect’s ability to generate speed on an attempt at goal. The speed and force behind a shot make it more difficult for goalkeepers to react and make a save, increasing the likelihood of the ball finding the back of the net. Prospects with strong shot power can take shots from outside the penalty area with confidence, creating additional goal-scoring opportunities.
